Try ther Juki 8090. Sews beautiful. Straight stitch only. Under $1000.00

I love my Juki mid arm! I paid about $700 a few years ago.

For straight stitch only why not look at a vintage machine. The 15-91 or 15-90 is easily found for usually less than $100. You can pretty much repair most things that go wrong yourself thus saving the repair bill. Normally a little drop of oil is all it needs. No bells or whistles to worry about and a whole lot more $$$$ for fabric can notions. Both machines are great at FMQ and STD

Juki 2010q runs around $1,000 on line. Many dealers match online price but if they don't, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase it online. There is not much that can go wrong on it. I love mine.

I purchased my 15" Bailey used, complete with frame, for around what you are looking to spend. Personally, I much prefer the Bailey on a frame as opposed to a Singer 15-91 or 66 or 201. Besides the larger throat space, it's just easier. No worries about pinning, tucks, etc. and I've received compliments on my quilting.

Baileys has a 13" at that price. You might be able to get one of their used 15 or 17 inch ones at that price also.

Do you ever really sew at 1500 stitches per minute? My HQ16 will do that, too, but the thought of 1500 stitches per inch just plain scares me. Luckily, I can dial down the speed to fit my wants and needs.

I have a Janome 6600 and LOVE it! It does everything I ask it to. 9" that,which can easily quilt a full sized quilt with fmq. I've read many people manage a King sized, but I haven't tried. I love the accufeed and the built in walking foot. It's also pretty darned quiet.
I've recently started sewing bags, with lots of interfacing and fusible fleece lining, and this machine takes it all. I'm constantly amazed at what it will sew through.
I'd love a Sweet 16, sit down, but that's just not an option for now, either. I keep squirreling away money, but at this rate it will be another 5 years before I've saved enough for that .
