She could use Pot holder patterns too or Crazy patch style .. Google : Mug Rugs.. Pinterest has many more... Another idea to make some for children is to use bigger pictures from Children's Coloring books as the patterns for piecing animals, shapes etc.. check out PaperbackSwap or Amazon too
While you are near a Library see if they have any books.. Applique Flowers onto plain Backgrounds... or other shapes or pictures from fabric. Use Pillows as inspiration. all sorts of Holiday Patterns etc..

I looked up the publisher for that book.. Their website shows that Mug Rug book at 12.95, pays to do a little research.

    Hi, Carol
there is a book by Cecilia Hanselmann on mug rugs she also has patchwork bags cost US $12.95; but I used 40% off coupon got it cheaper. Share with your friend the website alibris books.com I find many cheap books for very low cost.

I just love these! I have not ever made mug rugs, I'm not sure why, but now I will after your inspiration Thanks for the pic, these are beautiful! I wonder why 7" is easier to bind than 6"?
