I put a piece of carpet that my Bernina sits on. I find that slowing down, my piecing is much more accurate.

You are not anal! Labels on your frawers means you are organized! So much nicer to know where every thing is.

If it is possible you could put a towel under the base of your sewing machine and sometimes that will help with the movement.

This worked for me to stop the bouncing. I wedged a one inch round dowel rod underneath from floor to next to the shelf hinge. I used four of them. No bounce or wobble at all. DH said he could customize the dowels to fit flush next to the cabinet but it works like it is so I'm happy.

I'm thinking the bigger supports for the shelf might work or maybe metal ones that would go closer to the center. What I would do.

I haven't had a chance to sew much this week ... so much going on (and I'm a huge hockey fan, and the senators are doing absolutely AMAZING!)

Yes, Kris P, I'll come and organize your room ... I LOVE to organize people's stuff LOL It's a weird trait I possess.

I'll definitely try some of these options out!

    Thanks all!

My hubby did this for me too. He attached the shelf with metal brackets. they were almost the whole length of the shelf and my machine never bounced at all. maybe it's just that simple - stronger, metal brackets.

My sewing cabinet was hand made also..it also did what yours does..I solve it by folding a thick towel under it..no more movement for the machine on the slick surface..
