Please help with fabric creases

My mom is giving me an applique quilting kit that has never been removed from the package. This has been packaged for 20 yrs. What tricks do you know of to remove the fold lines? I'm afraid having been folded that long the fold creases are not going to come out easy.

I would wash the fabric first.....sitting that long the sizing may have ruined the fabric. After washing there shouldn't be a problem with the folds.... I agree with Texas_Sue....I have good luck with Mary Ellen's Best Pressed

Stay-Flo from the grocery store works as well as the best-press. Dilute to 50-50, and spray. Let set a moment for the solution to be absorbed by the fabric, and iron. Hot fabric accepts the starch better, so I iron over a crease, spray, wait just a moment and iron again.

I have done this and it works great! the white vinegar. especially since it's been in the package for so long. Was the package ever opened?.
Try water/white vinegar (equal portions)....in a bowl. Dip in a rag (fab remnant) and wring out. Lay the rag on the fold and steam press. -- PRESS, don't iron.
If that doesn't work, try some spray sizing from the grocery store.....I find mine at a Walmart type store.

Are there markings on the fabric for cutting lines or placement lines for the applique? If so, you may want to be careful that you do not wash them out. Or that you do not heat-set lines that you want to wash out later.

A Shot of Vodka in a cup of water. (My Grandmothers recipe) Put in a spray bottle and use to dampen the crease. Press with a dry Iron.
This works for me.
I got some my grandmother’s fabrics and one piece was still in the paper bag with the receipt for $.22 cents a yard.
All the creases came out and you cannot tell where they were.

This is what we did back when I sewed clothing more. I spritzed it onto the fabric as that was easier. Then had a big salad for lunch for some reason.
