This works for me.
I got some my grandmother’s fabrics and one piece was still in the paper bag with the receipt for $.22 cents a yard.
All the creases came out and you cannot tell where they were.
I am going to have to try this because I cannot resist your Grandmother's recipe!

I have used the methods that amandasgramma recommends and they work. The vinegar/water technique was very good for those old double knit fabrics.

Using a mixture of 1/3 vodka & 2/3 water mixed in a spray bottle & sprayed on then ironed will usually take any wrinkle out.

And if it doesn't, drink the vodka, and at least you'll feel better about it

I think I would begin with a slightly damp pressing cloth, no steam, on the wrong side. Bear in mind that any moisture on cotton tends to alter the original or found condition. If it has any signs of discoloration, fade or stress , it may not be advisable to do the above. Try it on a little corner first. Good luck. Cotton fabric has been known to last hundreds of years under the right conditions, so 25 yrs should be alright. I have quilted 100 tr old quilt tops and sewn blocks into tops and had no problem with pressing out creases. I do know not to hang in the sun as the old fabric will fade in just a few hours in the Twxas sun. When I sold antiques in Canton Texas I hung one under my canopy and one side faded Oh, my!

A technique I was taught through tailoring was to take some natural fibre string, soak it in water, lay it down in a straight line on your pressing board, place the crease directly over the string and then press with an iron. This way you are only ironing/pressing the crease and not the rest of the fabric. I have successfully used this technique many times.

That said, I like the look of using vodka....

I suggest the white vinegar/water solution for removing creases.
