I saw a very cool retro (fifties/sixties?) dental assistant chair in an antique store that I considered buying - it was similar to the one you bought, but it was orange. I wasn't sure if how comfortable it would be long term. If you wouldn't mind, would you post back in a few months to let us know if you still love it? Thanks!

Just wanted to update since I've been using the chair for a couple of weeks now. I love it! It's been comfortable and I really think this style is what I've been looking for. I was also able to raise it up higher when I was doing a different project on my cutting table-something I could never do with my office chair (it didn't go high enough). I'm glad I left the back on because even though I don't often lean back. I just like having that bit of support back there.

A few years back we put in new counter tops, etc. in my sewing room. My machine sits down into one of the counter tops, but my chair was still to short. My husband took the chair base off from the bottom of the chair and then put a big block of wood between the bottom of the chair and the base. This made my chair tall enough to use at my new counter tops. But . . . my feet wouldn't touch the floor. So he built me a box about 8 inches deep and 2 ft. long and probably 6 inches high to put my foot pedal and my other foot on. He's a keeper!!

Gale I want to thank you again for posting about this chair!! After reading what you wrote, I went immediately to Amazon and ordered mine and had it in 3 days!!
It IS wonderful...made such a difference in the length of time I could sit and sew and it is easier to get in & out of (on & off???)
Thank you!!!!!
