I bought the machine secondhand when it was only 18 months old. I had admired a friends Bernina series 8 machine for quite some time and when I saw the 710 advertised with BSR, and a walking foot I just couldn't resist.

Thanks everyone for your comments, lovely encouragement, most appreciated.

So do I need to do this even though the centre medallion is quilted first? Could I not just commence each radiating quilting line at the border of the medallion and sew out towards the quilt edge?
