Love the dedicated space! It'll be wonderful not to have to keep moving your machine.

Enjoy your sewing corner, I have used closets, corners of verious rooms etc. for my sewing corners and they always brought me such joy and creative time. As my family grew up so did my spaces, meaning they got larger so enjoy and look forward to seeing the quilt you are working on for your mom.

Great little corner. Here are a couple of sites with free patterns for sewing machine covers: http://www.favecrafts.com/Home-Decor...Machine-Covers, http://tipnut.com/sewing-machine-cover/, and http://thediydreamer.com/inspiration...achine-covers/.

    Have fun!

How nice!!...and good for you for carving out your own space - and since you've obviously shown you are clever - you will no doubt figure out how to best use it. Looking forward to seeing your Mom's quilt in pics.

I have a Bernina 830 Record as well. I bought it new back in 1974 for $500 and according to EBay could sell it for that now. I would not sell it, it is still my favorite machine even though it is my backup and in semiretirement. It is still a wonderful machine, though I wish I could get a brighter light for it. Your sewing corner looks so cozy, makes me want to set up one myself....even though I now have a sewing room with three machines in it. maybe a little table under the window in the living room so I can watch the birds while I sew. So peaceful. ah sewing....I am addicted! but what a wonderful addiction to have.

Thanks for all the links for machine cover patterns! I had a look at some and then decided to design my own... I guess I treat sewing patterns like I do cooking recipes: I need/love them for inspiration but never stick to them...

The machine still technically belongs to my mom but is on "semi-permanent loan" to me. Already when I was 20 years old, I wanted no other machine than this one. I used to try to persuade my mom to buy one of those fancy new machines and she would just laugh because she knew exactly my reasoning behind: I would then take her old one! But she also loves her Bernina 830 and didn't want another machine. My sister also had set her eyes on this machine, but thankfully for me, she bought an identical one second hand a few years ago, so ever since my mom's machine is designated to be mine, although I'd much rather have my mom for many more years than really inherit the machine! Nowadays, my mom doesn't do much sewing anymore but mainly mending clothes for what she now has to come over to my place (it used to be the other way round...).
