I use my walking foot only when I am quilting long straight lines on a quilt. I have used a regular foot quilting smaller items that I need more easily mobility on such as mug rug.

I have Pfaff's, so I don't need a walking foot due to the IDT [or dual feed.]

I never use my walking foot. I find it very distracting and have less trouble quilting without it.

I only use mine to STD and for binding, but I should think it would be up to you.

I use a specific foot for decorative design. ( a satin sitch one will work as well ) .However if its a straight stitch, serpantine curve I use my walking foot.I also do binding w/walking foot. It prevents puckering on underside. If I was good at FMQ then an open toe foot. Alas I am not, so avoid it but if I could stipple decently thats what I would do.

I use my walking foot for almost everything while sewing, piecing or quilting. I have a older Pfaff with the IDT. Could not do without it.
