My new favorite is the new Zirkel pincushion. I have it in red. I bought each of my sew buddies one for Christmas. I bought the long decorative pins to put on it for presentation. The pincushion and pins were under $30. Our limit is $35 per person.

Lots of specialty rulers are available -- a great gift would be one I don't have, with a pattern (or book) that uses it!
(I have LOTS of pincushions!)
