Thank you. Just curious why you think fusible interfacing is better than Steam-a-Seam? The reason I used S-a-S is it can be stuck on the first side without ironing, so takes less heat overall. Since I was working with silk, I was afraid of using too much heat and damaging the ties. I doubt I will ever do one of these again, but am asking for my education.

Silk is difficult to work with. Good job.

What is steam a seam? Did you not have to sew them then?

I think your quilt is beautiful. Using silk ties is difficult, to say the least, but you have definitely mastered it. I don't think your reds need "better spacing," just as none of the others do. While I try to arrange my ties by color and/or pattern, they don't usually end up that way. Those ties could have come right off the tie rack and been sewn down where they landed. Congratulations on creating such a wonderful memory.

I like your memory quilt. I know your friend will appreciate your effort-she will not understand the frustration. You are a good friend and have made someone happy in their sadness.

Yeah I just finished 2 quilts made out of dance costumes. I used fusible interfacing, I just peeled it off the paper and sandwiched between the top layer and then a Kona Cotton backing, Then ironed. They turned out stunning.

I really like the light blue background. I was just wondering if I should use light blue or dark blue for my son and his fiance's Dresden Plate wedding quilt background. It is scrappy and your picture makes me think I should buy both colors and then audition them. . The extra can always go in my stash. I did use a dark blue for a scrappy French Braid quilt that used many of the same colors as in the Dresden plates and I know I liked it but wasn't sure if I wanted that much dark for this quilt.

    Thanks for sharing.
