    From my old clothing sewing days, I've always clipped when I needed to. I think once its quilted it won't tend to fray too much unless it's very loosely woven fabric.

    Admitedly have not watched the link. Since I come from a garment background, not only do I clip bulky seams but I also press my seams open. So far, no issues.
