I am positive that my sewing room gremlin mixes up the numbers on my ruler and fudges the lines. That is my story and I am sticking to it!

How about measure twice, cut once, sew together, then find out the pattern in the Easy Quilts magazine left off 1/2" measurement on one of the pieces. It kinda messed up everything. I will be contacting them!

OOPS! I frequently make my own patterns using conventional pieces, and sometimes the math does not work out -- my first fence rail was an example. I cut every piece of every strata too short by 1/2 inch -- this was at a time I could barely afford to buy fabric, so I trimmed the top and bottom of the strips to square off the blocks and then donated the quilt because I was too frustrated with it. It was over a year before I could gather enough fabric to make another (and now I have way too much).

I hate it when that happens! Unfortunately I've been there more than once despite repeating that mantra constantly as I read and cut.

I think it has happened to most of us quilters, but we salvage the best we can. We then say, well maybe I created a new pattern

I bet all of us have been there on this one!!! One reason I want to have my project cut out before I go to retreat, I need to concentrate and double check each cut!!! I am going to a quilt retreat at Creations Quilt Shop in Kerrville, TX next week and cannot wait!!

I am sure there is not one of us who has not done this! Some of us have has way too many experiences. Some are recoverable; other times, these miss cuts find a new purpose-all is not lost.
