Has anyone attended Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge?
#12
Thought I’d let you all know I had a great time in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg last week. The Mountain Quiltfest was fun. I enjoyed beautiful quilts on display and attended a couple of classes. One class, a trunk show, presented by two women from South Dakota, was particularly interesting. One woman is from a several generations ranching and quilting family. She brought quilts quilted by her family from 1860s to present day. The other woman is a Native American living on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation. She brought quilts she has made that are just breathtaking. They talked about the influence early pioneers had on quilting by Native American women.

I was there last week as well. Really enjoyed the special displays as well as the show. I got to take two classes with Harriet Hargrave and one with Sharon Schamber. My sister lives about 35 miles from Pigeon Forge so got to spend time with her as well.

Getting to spend time with family and take in the Quiltfest is perfect! My sister came down with me. She’s not into quilting but we had fun walking the trade show floor and looking at all beautiful quilts on display. We also did one of the historic church tours together. Nice to spend time with her and enjoy the Quiltfest. We also went to the Ogle Farm the day we woke up to snow. Isn’t this just beautiful?
