Thank you everyone for your comments. Yes I did use a template. As for why I am having issues with it is because I wanted to put a border on the square to make it the size of the top and then a smaller pink border as I am taking the top border and bringing it around to the back. I know this is backwards from the conventional way but because it is a double sided quilt and the top is a certain size I needed the back to come into it. I went to the fabric shop an on the advice of them I have a fabric that I am going to use and gave up on the middle border of squares. It is not one that I would have gravitate to but I think it is going to look good. I will attempt to post pictures when it is finished.

That is exactly the quilt I want to make with my Ispy squares. Do you have a pattern you can steer me to? Did you have to do y-seams? I downloaded it, but can't really tell how you put it together without doing y-seams...

If you take the hexagons and sew a triangle to top right and bottom adjacent to the top and iron the seam towards the hex. you can sew them together in a row. I was given the pattern by a lady at the quilt shop. PM me with your address and I can send you a copy or scan and email it to you. I think I can figure out how to do that. Snail mail might be quicker though. It was a lot of fun to make.
