    Thanks for the warning.

I am alergic to clams, oysters and scallops but not shrimp, labster, crabs or fish. Go figure.

    I would like to know what a labster is too.

I think it is great that we can all tease each other without someone getting hurt feelings. Well not all of us, some of us don't get hurt feelings others just have poles up their butts.

I am also allergic to shellfish. However, shellfish fall into several categories (such as mollusks) and some people are only allergic to some. I, so far, am only allergic to lobster, crab, and shrimp. I am also allergic to bees but can have honey. I also carry an Epi-pen if it becomes necessary. I am also allergic to grass, dust, mold, cats, and chapstick. I don't know about the cat allergy though (I test positive for it, but don't notice symptoms from my cat). My boston terrier is also allergic to grass.

I have reacted 3 times to lobster, scallops, muscles, but not crab so far. What the Dr told me was with each reaction getting stronger, the possibility was there that I might not make it to the hospital if I ate those again. He said probably all sea food items. I have used sea salt in bath, no reaction yet, but since mom developed her alergies as she got older, I too have figured they would worsen. So I am careful, I don't eat where sea food is fixed. I too would let my last supper be lobster dripping in butter sauce, ahhhhhh I am drooling again....

This is interesting info to know. I developed an allergy to both shrimp and horseradish (cocktail sauce, anyone?) at about age 20. I can sometimes eat one shrimp and have a reaction, and other times nothing. I have come to prefer NOT to take the chance, as I do not always have Benadryl available. Have not developed a sensitivity to anything else (except dishes and housework, if you ask my husband), but try to be careful nonetheless.

And, honestly, I think I've just pretty much convinced myself that shrimp are just not worth the potential problems they can create for me. I wouldn't even order them for my "last" meal ... maybe an all-you-can-eat buffet, but just not shrimp!

I noticed today at the store on, a name brand, container of peanuts in large print was SEA SALT! Must be some type of relationship between fish and sea salt that is worth the warning!
