A lady I once took a class from said she would "sit" on her foot control and run it that way. I don't exactly know how she made that work, but give it a try. Anything to be able to continue to sew!

I hope you start feeling better soon.
Do you have a cat? Maybe you can teach the cat to control the foot pedal. :P

I'm so sorry to hear this!! Wish I was closer, I'd help you with the kids!

I think, with phlebitis, that you have to sit with your foot up high?????

Prop that foot up and use your other one, find and buy a hand crank or look for a machine with a knee pedal---vintage Singers and Kenmores both have knee pedals.
I hope you feel better soon. You might take this time to do some hand sewing or try some different dyeing techniques. There was a post recently about using Sharpie markers and rubbing alcohol. I've cut the white blocks and DD and I are using the scraps to perfect our skills at this "new" dyeing phase before we make large blocks. It really quite fun and can be done while sitting with your feet propped up.

Ive done that. Actually its under the thigh. It takes some getting used to tho. You will need practice pieces. I sure hope you heal soon just be rid of the pain. Well u might wanna just whip something up and hand quilt it! Then u wont have to sit to sew and you can keep that foot up. Best of Luck and yes u CAN sew

If the machine is in a cabinet, you might be able to rig the pedal to work as a knee driven machine. I learned on an old Montgomery Ward knee driven. Then when I bought my new machine, I thought that was what the knee bar was for---NOT! It took me a couple tries to figure out what it's used for now-a-days and I like it but I still miss the old Monkey Ward machine.
