    yes, foundation piecing and paper piecing are the same thing, one you sew to a foundation which stays in the quilt the other you sew to paper and remove it when the whole quilt is put together, before quilting.
    english paper piecing is a totally different animal.
    but if the pattern has the option you can use anything you want.
