    Gorgeous quilt, a real treasure for you. Your Mom did fabulous work.

    Those ties are certainly from the 80s. They make a great quilt but can you imagine what they looked like with a suit? That's one style I hope doesn't come back. LOL

    I too have tons of my DH ties...most with a story in them. Ex. tie matching DD dress for father daughter dances.
    I cannot bear to cut them up. have been thinking along your moms line but keeping them in tack. I will have to think on this a while more . thank you for sharing :)

    did she hand embroider or machine them? lot of thread changing if she machined.

    How do you assemble that? Is it sewn onto a foundation? Do you take out the "interfacing" of the ties? Maybe you can teach us how to do this.

    everything was hand embroidered and the entire quilt is held together with the embroidery stitches
