I somehow ended up with 24 sets, so will have to decide which one to eliminate. I took a photo of the sets on both black and my constant neutral, as I have been pondering the question of contrast. They look so different on the different backgrounds. I have some contrast issues with either choice, with light grays/golds on the light and dark grays/golds on the dark.
Have any of you ever seen a half black, half white quilt? Maybe I should try that, LOL.

Ok, I'm checking in... I'm still behind but not too bad. I'm going to have enough different grey fabric using my 10" squares to make each of these sets from a different fabric, and then have a sliver left for the string piecing part -- but I might be substituting a single fabric instead... a silvery grey metallic I bought specifically to be Seattle sky in January.
I'll have to double up on the golds, I'm ok with that. Looking at the yardage requirements again for the orange and tightening down that group again -- was confused that last time it was the green that was the least used, this time is the orange. Speaking of greens, I need to get the washer going...
So goal today is to get the grey/gold combos cut... if I really get going I can get them sewn too, am doubting seriously pressing but I've got to start somewhere.
Coffee break is over, time to get cutting! My coffee consumption is way up this year and the extra big box of K-pods from Costco or the other markets is a nice project box size. Was looking at the one today and considering changing over to it.

Thanks for your feedback, leheath8! I was thinking I had fewer contrast issues with the light neutral, so I appreciate hearing a different perspective. So eager for tomorrow's clue!

My Clue 1
I am starting by making half of the units and maybe end up with a smaller quilt. Of course, I started Frolic only doing 1/3 the units since it was my first mystery and liked it so much I ended up making the full size. It took me quite a while to finish and still hasn't been quilted yet but I'm ok with that. So here is a picture of the colors for this clue. Plan to use this gray through out. I bought grunge yardage but then decided to add some golds I had on hand.

I got all my clue 1 cut and about half stitched....none pressed yet. I made 3-4 extra sets so I can decide later on which to use. I did have to repeat most of my fabrics but put different greys with different golds so all the sets should be a bit different. I started out winding a very strange bobbin that had 3 tails...yikes....got that sorted out....then I proceeded to eat one of my triangles...then I remembered I did have a straight stitch plate for that machine (Viking D1) and put it on...much better...no eaten triangles. Cruising along now...but may call it quits and sit in my recliner and watch netflix...getting rested up for Clue 2.
