It won't have too many cornerstones if you only sash three sides of the subsequent blocks. Use the existing sash w/cornerstone for the fourth side as you sew them together.
I think this a great way to get cornerstones at every corner. Beats measuring and setting them in the long strips if you do it the way I did it.

that type of sashing and cornerstones works when you put it on just two sides, like left and bottom . then when you have everything sewed together add it to the top and right sides. I doit frqesntly. Or youy can add another sashing stip inbetween so you don't have to do any ripping
