I've considered making myself a holder for my neck or something like a "tool belt or apron" to wear because I am always misplacing my sewing tools. As a former RN I was use to having pockets on my lab jacket and wearing my stethoscope around my neck.

I have an old NEEDLECRAFT magazine, May 1929, that I have framed and hang in my sewing room. The cover picture is of an old fashioned lady with a long wide skirt. She is wearing a white apron and has a chatelaine that is somehow attached to the apron at the waistline or perhaps is on a belt of some type. Hangs down on either side. Cute picture! I have never hung anything on me personally, but my quilting buddy wears "stuff" hanging around her neck all the time!!

I liked the elastic suggestion too, think I might try that too.

I sew with my snips always in my right hand. I was trained that way, and you will find that anyone that ever production sewed will do this the same way.

Are you saying, that you never let go of the snips, while you are feeding material thru the machine?

Go to Walmart and buy snips. They are around $5.00 a pair. I know the ones you are talking about at LQS and they are probably a Weiss brand name, all metal. The ones I'm referring to at WM have plastic handles, and extremely pointy tips. Much rather use them and replace them every so often than buy the Weiss, and have to get them sharpened.

We can buy snips at the dollar store ... and you get other things in the same packet with it.

Yes, that is exactly what I am saying. I do take them off when I get up to press or answer the phone though. I'd probably stab my head if I didn't. ;)

I saw the things you are talking about at the dollar store. Pass on those.

I wear a lanyard, with a retractable scissor holder on the end. It allows me to reach the far side of my longarm and still keep the scissors fairly close. I have had to learn to tuck the scissors into my sweatshirt or apron when I fluff a back, batting, or top to keep from getting poked in the face. Since this is 'everyday' wear for me, I'm used to it.
