I vote for navy sashing and borders as well. I think the navy will pull the blocks together and anchor them.

Quilts are not ugly. Some are just different. Yes, adding a border and/or sashing will definitely help.

I love the blocks. I think most blocks need sashing to pull them together into a cohesive whole and these are no exception. Find a color that you like, sash those blocks, put a border on it and you will wind up thinking it is the prettiest quilt you ever made.

I don't think it is ugly... how about picking a color from the blocks and making a solid color square with your squares?

If you are going to make more units - maybe be consistent in the placement of your lights and darks - then you may see a secondary pattern emerge when you put the units together.

That is NOT ugly. I recently finished a crumb quilt and belive me it had EVERYTHING in it ! I shashed and bordered it with black and it looks great. The black made all the colors pop.

There is no such thing as an ugly quilt, just as there is no such thing as an ugly duck. The quilt was made with the hands and the heart. The duck is cute and part of God's creation.

Not Ugly! I would add sashing in one of the colors which would finish this off and make it striking, I think.
