Former "ugly quilt" now my "Coming Up Roses" quilt!

Another board member made the center of this quilt top and really didn't like it at all. She called it "the ugly quilt". I loved it, so she gifted it to me and this is what I have added to finish it off. I needed it a little longer so added the checkerboard and the two narrow borders. When I layer and quilt it, the binding will be the same dark red in the checkerboard. I have renamed her "ugly quilt" to my "Coming Up Roses" quilt. I am keeping this one as my own personal throw. I have never kept one of my own quilts so this is the first one for me!!

I believe UFOs are like scraps, ferns and dust bunnies. Once you get two, they send spores out into the air and more just happen anywhere the spores meet.

I love the old fashioned look of the top. It made a very pretty throw and your border finishes it off well. Enjoy!

Those are my favorite colors and the checkerboard is to die for. What a great idea, I am going to steal it. The dark red border will really finish it off. Post a picture when you have it finished please. Thanks for sharing.

I love the Warm Wishes pattern and the roses give it the shabby chic look. Love the addition of the checkerboard border, you will love curling up under it even more know it was from a cyber buddy.

See one man's "trash" is another man's "treasure". You sure made the quilt into a something that can be used and be something you can be proud of. Great job.

There is nothing ugly about this quilt! It is lovely and I love the name - it fits it perfectly. I love the checkered border - what a great eye you have. I can see why you are going to keep it for yourself - I would do the same.
