Go to the main forum. Find the post for Cathedral Window Ornament. Click on the button to the right that says download. When the next box comes up click on "Open". The directions will come right up.

Thanks for the pattern. I think I'll try to make some.

    JudyJo,
Thanks for the directions for the cathedral window ornaments. I gave every single ornament I had this year (from all the years past) to each of my children. We made a party of it and they all took their favorites. Being the "empty nester" that they like to remind me I am, I now have only this year to make new things for next years tree and my house. I literally gave it all away. So, my main project this year besides countless quilts and tablerunners and such, already planned, is to make at least 100 new ornaments for me. Sooooooooooooooo, if any of you have any awesome, pretty, different, unusual, or just plain fun ornament patterns or ideas, I would be so grateful. It will be fun to get different ideas from everywhere and it will add more meaning to each one I make....send pictures too if you can, right now I will have a very naked tree without you all. Thanks, Janie

Just me again, I just thought that if there is a history, or good story attached to the ones you send, please include it. It is so wonderful to know that in the heart of all quilters there is such sense of community and generosity and even though I have only been here a few days with all of you, you have made me all feel so much a part already. By the way, I was able to download with no problem on the cathedral window pattern and will make one tomorrow as soon as I get up...you all are good medicine , thank you so much. Janie

Janie....no history behind the CW ornament except that I was recuperating from shoulder surgery and was looking for handwork to do where I could just use the bad arm for holding the needlework only. So I tried the CW ornament and really enjoyed making it. I wound up making many and plan on making some more. I think it's a great idea to share ideas on Christmas ornaments. I make new ones every year for us, our boys and our grandchildren as well as making them to have on hand as small gifts. So I'm always looking for ideas. I start about now. Most of my ornaments are counted xstitch or croched. I would love to have some more patterns for quilted ornaments. I went on Angie's Bits and Pieces web site and got some free pp ornament patterns. The ornaments are only 3-4" so the PP pieces are small. I think I have to get more use to paper piecing before I tackle these.

    Have fun

    JudyJo,
I know that it is going to be great fun. I like hand projects for my "News" time each night. It is my way to unwind. I have a lot of paperpiecing patterns, crosstitch and hope to make quite a few patchwork. So it is decided that my "Theme" will be quilting/sewing, it fits me, so I too will be happy to share patterns with you...Let me know... I have quite a few snowmen and am looking for nativity scenes. I collect both...and thanks for the "history" on the CW pattern. I took it to my quilt group today and they all loved it...I know me, if I like something, I always make a bunch, so thanks so much and let me know if you want to trade patterns...Janie

Janie....sorry bout that. Try www.bits.ajpadilla.com. Of course the Christmas patterns aren't there anymore unless she has them in the "store". Over on the left of the site click on pp patterns and free patterns. Another good site for paper pieced patterns is www.paperpanache.com. Do you have any patterns for quilted or pp ornaments? It sounds like you do paper piecing while you'rl watching tv. Did I understand that right? Do you do it by hand?

Janie, do you have a way of taking a picture of your ornament and posting it? It's so much fun to see how something comes out when someone else makes it.
