Total junkie! I get "fancy" fabrics for crazy quilts from the remnant bins; I buy bags of lace & trims from the remnant bins; also, buttons, zips, & other fasteners, too. And since I do applique/collage/art quilts I look for remnants of the colors/patterns I dislike but could use in one of those pieces or as trim for a tote.

I always check the remnant bin in Joanns and Walmart.
I found that my LQS has a end of the bolt wall the fabric could be 1/4 -to as much as 3 yards and it is 20% off because you finished the end of the bolt.
I like it I have bought a few things from that wall

The remnant bin is usually my first stop when I walk into a fabric shop. Rems are the base of my quilting pyramid (kinda like chicken wings are the base of my food pyramid, but fewer calories ) One LQS even has a basket of strips, chunks, etc., that they charge $2 for as much as you can fit into a ziploc sandwich baggie and still have it close (I am getting quite good at it!!). Another LQS considers anything under 3 yds a remnant, so their baskets are full of goodies.

I am a junkie to (fabric, along with some other, like news LOL). Joann's is the best. Hancock's remnants are $ 2.99 or $ 2.95 a yard, regardless. The "clearance" tables aren't the best, they are still pretty expensive, unless it's the "clean sweap" sale. I just recently found out that if the same material that you find in the remnant bin at Joann's is on sale, they will charge according to sale price, less 50 %. For example, the flannel is normally $6.99/yd. a piece of remnant is marked for 50% off. But if the flannel is currently on sale for $ 2.99/yd, they will charge you half of the $ 2.99. Nice, huh? because sometimes you only need a half a yard or something like that.
