I love it. Sometimes joining the squares is a pain, but you have much more control over the quilting without breaking your back.

I, too, love the QAYG method. I also use the Sharon Pederson method. I really like her technique for joining the quilted sections.

I prefer quilting in sections.

I have done several and pleased with the results. There is a little trick to making sure the joins are "just" right. I took a class and by following her directions, there is a little gap so I backed off the measurement and the joins are perfect.

I've learned a couple of other methods that work well too.

This is the one way now for me with larger quilts because I can't afford to pay a long-armer.

I watch for patterns that can be adapted or use one of the other methods where sashing isn't used.

I developed a pattern when I was teaching 2 of the methods. If anyone is interested, I sell them for $8 (incl. shipping)....if you want a dowload, $5.

PM me if interested.

I like them and have done a number of methods. The one I like best is the Japanese method of sandwiching a complete, small unit, and then joining all of these little units together into a larger quilt. You can stop when you want to and then get on with something else.

I really like using it in certain cases. Once you learn it, it isn't hard to do and it comes in handy some times. I'm doing a quilt using it right now.

I've just started my first one. Sharon Pederson has a nice method that I may try, the one Iam doing I think I saw on here--sew the blocks together and then use a nice ribbon or make your own strips and just sew them on the top side. Wish me lick.

I loved making the one I just finished for my DSiL's birthday. As soon as get my camera back and figure out how to post pics, I show my first pic on this board.

There is a free QAYG pattern on Connecting Threads site that is a sort of Chinese Coins quilt. It looks very easy and I will be trying it.

I haven"t tried it yet but I have a friend who can"t wrestle a large quilt around so she uses the Betty Cotton method of QAYG and she loves it. I think it's great id you like it and it allows you to continue quilting.
