No oiling anywhere on mine. I've read some only need oil on bobbin. Every machine is different. My old machine reallly likes oil.

Any time that you are having a problem with it sewing funny, rethread your machine. Also trying changing the needle. You might want to write down what your tension numbers are in case you ever have a problem with that. I wrote my serger numbers down in my instruction book.

I have 1 machine that is self-oiling, says in all caps DO NOT OIL in my manual. I have 2 others that DO require oiling, and list the oil points in the manual. I'm glad your hubby was able to clean it up for you. They just like to help us out, don't they?

Is the bobbing case in properly? You may have to
take a trip to a dealer doctor

Sorry to hear about your machine. My retired mechanic can't stand the thought of me taking in my sewing machines in for cleaning cause he wants to do them.Big fight.Stood my ground.Threatened to clean his fishing reel......I have a Bernina, Necchi and a Featherweight......All go to professinals........

As some have already said clean all the excess oil from machine and look at your manual to cleaning or maintence. Check your book on tension, threading & bobbin make sure this is right. I have been sewing for yrs. & I still check my manual book when things go wrong.
I too have a DH that is so good at fixing everything but my sewing machines are off limits to him. I too learned the hard way. lol
    Good Luck

If there is still too much oil, run some calico through the machine with no thread until it comes clean.
    Cheers

PS I have a chocolate teapot - I would not let mine near my machine. At least yours had a go, and fixed it up.
