Absolutely gorgeous! The fusible webbing would most likely take the place of the stay stitching. Just be really careful with it so you don't stick to something you don't want. ( I say that because you know I have done that! :? )
Thank you for keeping us current. I have an old book with the pattern, but have not had the courage to try it yet. I may invest in the Marti Mitchell templates you used. Your results are stunning.

See how the center just whirls around? I think this looks a LOT better than having a bunch of seams meeting in the middle. Seems to me that no matter how well done a star is, you can still tell where the vertical and horizontal seams are through the middle.

Plus, there really isn't a matching of points in the middle (which never quite works out for me), they just overlap all around. You iron the seams all in one direction.

Stunning! I have some of Marti Mitchell's book, she makes quilting easy. :-) Your color choice is wonderful. Great job on the piecing!

It is soo gorgeous...I just keep opening the thread up to drool all over it  I'll be trying to hold my breath that since all has "fallen into place" so well for you on this quilt so far...that the applique will work out easily also. I would be pinning on the floor ....pin...pin...pin...pin.....then baste. Can't wait to see it!
