What to do With 199 yards of Flannel
#21
I just want to know what site you got this from! I've been looking for flannel for rag quilts - and can't seem to find much except for Xmas - not a lot out there to find for everyday items or children! And I've been searching everywhere online!

how about a swap with others for different fabrics-baby blankets for project Linus are always good or the local womens shelter-If you belong to a guild have them help with donateable projects and such. Good luck and post pictures!!!

What I have done with allot of my flannel is make small quilts to donate to the Human Society or Rescue for kitties and small dogs. I make one side with cotton the back with flannel and batting will be anything I can find that is in-expensive like fleece at the goodwill store or thrift shop. Wash it and it works fine.

I made a scrappy log cabin out of flannel. The centers were all red squares. I cut 2.5 inch strips width of fabric and put them in a big bag. Next, I randomly pull out a strip and sew it to one side of the square. Cut off the extra and rotate the square. Place the used strip in another bag. Take another strip out of the first bag. Sew, cut, rotate, repeat until you have desired square size. After all the strips are used from the first bag, switch bags and start over pulling out random strips. I did cheat by looking to pick out a certain color when I thought one didn't look right . I made 15 inch squares and it made up quick. Does this make sense? My kids fought over who would get the warm cozy quilt.

Sounds like some great suggestions. Right now I am using some flannel for batting. Thisgs are scarce this year and I had about 30 yards of flannel so why not. I like the thin batting anyway so just double the flannel and quilt away.
