We really did eat blackeyed peas, ham, mac and cheese and cornbread. It was good and certainly a change from our usual meals. We try to eat "healthy" but it was really good!

My family gathers at my parents house. We always have the black eyed peas, turnip greens, hog jowl and corn bread. We add other vegetables potatoes, corn, and coleslaw and meatloaf. Might not bring luck but we are never hungry.

No. No black-eyed peas. Cabbage rolls, pierogi, cabbage and noodles this year. Other years, braised pork and sauerkraut and mashed potatoes. Number 1 DS is my number 1 pierogi 'pincher', not a single one burst while boiling.

No ham as no one but DH and I will eat it.

What do you do with the cabbage?
I cut it into a frying pan with real butter and onions and stirfry it.

This is the first time in my life that I didn't do the whole thing with the blackeyed peas, ham, greens, rice and tomatoes. I actually forgot.

Black-eyed peas and cornbread every year since we married- 49 years. I would hate to think what they years would have been like without them!!! Some of them were pretty bad anyway! lol
