I made that pattern. Fons and Porter had it in their Love of Quilting magazine sept/oct 2011 called Crossed Kayaks and they had sashing between the blocks. The border also carrying the colors over. You could probably try the internet to see how they did it. Great find. I have been working on mine for awhile doing it if red/black fabric with a black sashing and border

What a find. I too would have snapped them up. Love to get old blocks at flea markets or auctions.

Lucky you, I like these blocks. Isn't this pattern called something like "Crossed Canoes" ?

I 'found' blocks at Goodwill. I couldn't figure out how to use them either. Then I saw a pattern for 'on point.' So..I sashed all the blocks and put them 'on point' and they turned out great. You might consider this option. Let us see when you do get it finished.

Have fun experimenting with placement. I focused in on the fabric because of the unique originality. Some I recognize. The black and white polka dots brings back pictures in my mind of a lady in a full skirted dress with a black hat. It's like a walk down memory lane looking at those fabrics. Great pick.
