Quilting gloves...assume you can't buy them...what would work as substitute?

I have tried rubber gloves, garden gloves with the rubber dots, clots, rubber finger tips and also tacky finger, that bank tellers use for counting money. They all work great, it depends what I am quilting.

A couple more ideas are trying bath gloves. I seen this hint on a quilt show. I don't remember which one. I tried them on a baby quilt and they work. I am new to the machine quilting so don't have a lot of experience with gloves. Another hint that a dear departed friend used for hand quilting was to cut the end from balloons for her fingers. Find what works for you. Happy Quilting!

I can't stand to wear gloves. I use Kwik-sort. It's the gel stuff bankers use to count money. Rub it on the palms and fingers and it's the best answer I've found. Leaves the hands feeling nice, and doesn't leave a residue on the fabric.

I've not tried this solution but I'm sure it will work. Have you tried Handbell ringer's gloves. Some styles are designed with small rubber dots all over the palm of the glove. Handbell ringers use them to keep the bells from slipping and turn the pages of their music. Try this site: www.handbellworld.com look for the cotton performance gloves with plastic dots, they come in several sizes. Like I said I've never tried them but they should work.
