    what am i doing wrong
what size is her block unfinished
could someone show after sewing strip and pressing open how to cut the apart
    Thanks Gale
Do you have her ruler? It is so much easier with the ruler. Instructions with lots of pics come with the ruler. I am in the process of making a hunter's star right now with a 6" finished block. For triangles you need strips 6" wide WOF, for the trapezoids you need strips 1 3/4" wide WOF & for the accents (stars/diamonds) you need strips 2 1/4" wide WOF. This is for a 3 colour block. For my block I have: 1 trapezoid & 1 triangle in the same colour, 2nd trapezoid & triangle in another colour & for the accents -stars/diamonds I have a 3rd colour. This is a little hard to explain here but hopefully this will help. PM me & I may be able to give you some additional help.

Just to add, I have Deb Tucker's ruler & it is a BIG help. When I had problems I just went to her video & it was a huge help also. It is a little more money but well worth it IMHO. I am 1/2 way thru my quilt & really have had no major problems to speak of. Try Deb's video & I am sure that will be a big help.

callen hows the fire situation? Hope much better. We lived 30 years in Thompson manitoba and fires were sure a threat every summer.
As to the block you sure don`t need a special ruler just a 45% I just finished! Boy were those trapezoids ever hard to sew to the diamonds took them apart too many times to count but well worth it.
I feel if you can do this block you can do anything!
Yes pp maybe is the way to go but I wanted to try just cutting but ended up using templates which din`t turn out to bad.

You didn't make your trapezoids wide enough (the blue pieces), that's all. Notice where Roolen put her Companion Ruler in her tutorial.
