I found the pattern through Prairie Queen Pattern Company on Etsy. She has several nice patterns available and sends the prairie chicken free with purchase.

I saw the picture you posted of your first block in another forum. I like the earthy, neutral tones and I think the black sashing will be very dramatic. Good thinking regarding the name! The two birds have very similar shapes in flight, although the chicken's tail may be a bit wider. Oh well, as my dad used to say, "close enough for jazz."

This is the first column of five blocks of my Scrappy Blue Grouse with some more blocks laid out for piecing. One of these days I will have enough room for a larger design wall. It seems as almost every quilt I make ends up queen size or larger.
