Default Dusky Grouse Quilt aka Prairie Chicken, finished

Thanks to QuiltingaddictUK who mentioned her Prairie Chicken quilt on a post earlier this year and designer Nancy Harcourt who provided the pattern free online. It took seven months to complete this quilt. I did the QAYG method for the first time. What a learning experience because I decided to use cornerstones in the sashings. All of the FMQ quilting designs were adapted from Leah Day's book, 365 Free Motion Quilting Designs. The backing is flannel from good thrift store sheets. I added an eighteen inch pillow tuck at the top which makes the quilt 120"x108. The resident Quilt Inspector gives this quilt her approval.

what a great quilt... everything is planned to fit just right and your color placement makes it easy to see what the pattern is. and the quilting is terrific.

What an awesome quilt! I've never seen that pattern before. So masculine... looks great with that pine wall behind it!
