I have the same problem. Last year I made something that didn't use up a lot of fabric, but was very pretty. I had a group of loosely-woven, metallic Christmas plaids from KQ that were stunning but probably wouldn't hold up in a quilt. I made padded stars to hang from ribbons from my fireplace mantel. Not hard to do and made a great "lap project" for evenings. I just found a star pattern I liked, enlarged it with a ruler and pencil, cut out of cardboard, put batting on both sides, laid fabric over, and stitched around the edges with a backstitch and embroidery floss. After a while, I started using fusible fleece instead of gluing the batting to the cardboard.

It sounds like I need that book, too. I purchased a lot of quilting fabric at an auction a couple of weeks ago and when I separated the Christmas fabric and measured it, I have 40 yards total. That's a lot of Christmas fabric for me.
A couple of years ago I made aprons for my Christmas cookie baking friends and used up quite a bit of fabric. I think I had 1/2 yd cuts, not enough for a quilt, but just enough for some cute aprons. That's me on the right.

These aprons are lovely and a great idea!!! I have all the grandkids over for a cookie/candy making day and these would be a perfect way to use up some of my Christmas fabric stash. Guess what I am doing today!!!!

I made quilts with friends. We decided on a size to cut our fabric and got together and exchanged squares and had a sew in. It was so much fun. We had food and holiday music. One of those friends as since passed on but everytime I bring out that quilt I have the memories of that day.
