So, here it is again - if you make the hot bowl hot pads or tater bags, make sure everything you use is 100% COTTON - the fabric, the batting, AND the thread. I've not had any problems with the ones I've made and I've never had to heat or reheat anything for more than a couple of minutes at the most and I have reheated at 100% power.
I have made the bowl holders for Christmas and always use 100% everything as you suggested. I always put a note with each one to not heat more than two minutes at a time. I've never had any complaints or accidents reported. Everyone loves them and I recently got requests for more from my son. I like making them.

I just taught a friend how to make them. She is afraid hers might catch fire in the microwave and just wanted it to use as a pot holder effect. So we used the Insul-Bright. My daughters love the ones I made for them too. They don't put them in the microwave either. (They use their's for their ice cream bowls.)

Yes, the two minute maximum at a time is the key. I made some potato bags (the idea is that the potatoes will be insulated, stay warmer after you take them out, keep cooking for a while, the bag will protect your fingers, etc.) when Wrap & Zap first came out. I was used to setting the microwave for 5-8 minutes for potatoes, and did have two bags burn.

Now, I notice, they say on the bags of Wrap & Zap not to heat for more than 2 minutes at a time. Old bags did not say that.
