This was my post. The rugs are now very experienced having been used in front of the kitchen sink as well as bedside. No telling how many times they have been washed, and they still look like the original photo. When (if) they wear out, I will definitely make more.

That is a great idea for the rugs. Am gifting bathroom towels for a wedding shower and will make a rug/mat to match the towel set, thanks for sharing your rugs.

Not long ago I was in a friends gorgeous house and the throw rug in the guest bedroom matched the quilt on the bed. Someone had made it for her & it was beautiful. Never thought to match a quilted pattern rug to the bed quilt before.

I have seen a pattern for bath rugs that you use an old towel for the backing and then what you want to quilt for the top. I picked up some towels at a thrift store to try it but have lost the website so may want to look for that too.

I have found the denim rag quilt concept is great for floor mats. I have made a few with no batting or backing, but still using quilt block patterns on a scale suitable for ragging (8 to 10" squares, maybe?) The ragging feels great on the tootsies in the bathroom, at the sink or just outside the shower. Also nice for teens' rooms or the camper trailer. No batting or backing means faster drying, and the denim is so durable!

I've made crocheted rugs, and have one my grandmother made. You can make braided rugs, too. I haven't made a quilt for use on the floor. But if I did, I think it would need to have non-stick stuff on the bottom. You can buy non-stick liners for rugs, but I've had problems with it bunching up. There was supposed to be some kind of spray for non-stick, but I don't remember what it was, and the aunt who told me about it has died.
