Those renewal notices do read like "this is your last issue - renew NOW - or it will be discontinued!"

The expiration date on the label is also sometimes hard to figure out.

This happened to me with my Quilters World subscription.
I kept submitting my renewal for 2-3 years at a time. One
day happen to really look at the label. than went to the website
to verify. This was about 2008-2010 when I did this, and yep I
    was paid up until 2017.

But ended up renewing earlier this year anyways.

I just had this happen with American patchwork & quilting, I just renewed twice this year! So I emailed and asked for a refund, they just said THANKYOU for your order! Won't happen again! I get so many renewal notices for the same magazine!! I hilighted the payments in my ck book so I can see easily who has been paid!

that's the trick with almost all subscribed items - check the label for expiration date. They start sending renewal notices within a couple months of an order. I will cut out a label, highlight the expiration date and stick it on my bulletin board. Then I just throw out all notices. This also applies to clubs, organizations (PBS is the worst) as well as magazines. I once wrote a letter to my local PBS station to suggest that if they stopped sending renewal for 10 months that they might not have to run as many pledge drives! I know it didn't have any impact, but it made me feel better.

Several quilting magazines have stopped publishing and sometimes another magazine takes the subscription and finishes it. When "Quilter's Newsletter" stopped, they offered to extend my subscription to another magazine. I didn't want that magazine and called to add the extension to a magazine I did want. Many magazines are published by the same company, so you can usually get another of their publications. Sometimes you don't even know when another magazine is substituted.

I would have asked for a refund of at least 10 years. Make your own reason why you would like to do so. For some reason, when my late husband was making out the Bill Pay, auto payments on bills that remain the same, he got one of them, the Orkin service, down for twice a month. After he passed away and I was doing the bills, I noticed the overpayment -- there was $500 credit on the account! I called and asked for a refund, and it was gladly sent to me in a check. Might be worth a try.

McCalls had me down for two different accounts! said one year behind on one. Now i told them i knew there was no way they would send me mags if I was behind the least little bit. they finally got it straightened out. i stopped after that.

At least you got a letter I never did. I am reluctant to renew early or for a long period of time since magazines seem to be failing more and more. Have been disappointed in Love of Quilting lately,it keeps repeating the same things over and over.

I shred all billings until I get threats or last issue notice. Once I subscribed to new magazine and in a week, I get 3 issues. Back issues !!! They got a quick letter from me, why do I want Valentine and Christmas issues in MARCH ??
