If you google Silver Reed knitting machines you should be able to find one of those find a dealer sites. The price hasn't gone up since I bought mine.

I have a Brother knitting machine but I have never seemed to be able to make it work right. It will randomly skip chunks of stitches. It's sure the problem is with me, but it's more of a headache than its worth. I can hand knit pretty well, and crochet too, so I'll keep the knitting machine packed away for 'one day'.

BTDT. No you don't. They're very limiting.

I replaced the sponge bar and oiled and cleaned the whole thing. I found it at a garage sale years ago for $5, with all the instructions manuals, some patterns and even an old VCR on how to use it! The underside of the plastic carriage is a bit dented, which makes me wonder if the previous owner was rough on it. It might just need all new needles. I would love to get it up and running to make baby sweaters and blankets.

I just wanted to come back and correct something I posted yesterday. Sewing Machines Plus does Not sell knitting machines... it was All Brands that sells them. Guess I'm getting too many sewing e-mails and can't keep track.

I bought a knitting machine, don't remember which one. I used it once to make a baby blanket. It's been in my closet for years. We recently moved and it was added to the donation pile. It wasn't as much fun as I thought it would be. I would like to find a vintage sock knitting machine.

Well, I've gone and done it. Bought some DK yarn from Walmart, ordered the LK150, and purchased a couple of Craftsy classes by Susan Guagliumi. Also bought a couple of machine knitting pattern books for dolls from eBay. Will order a yarn winder tonight.

QuiltnNan, I think your photo of the baby enjoying his Christmas stocking nailed it for me.
