It's a beaut! My mother had one when I was a kid and that's
what I learned to sew on. My grand daughter got a sewing
machine for Christmas. It's a little thing, I think it's
called a Hobbitt? Anyway as soon as she is more used to it
I'm going to introduce her to quilting. She will be eight
in May. I think it will give her a lifetime of joy.

My grandfather had a sewing machine very similar to yours. I remember as a kid playing with the spools of thread in the drawers. I think one of my cousins has it now. Lots of good memories with it. Congrats on both your "finds".

Oh! Her name! I think her name is "Hannah" after one of my great great great grandmothers who lived in the era.

I was so happy this morning when I woke up and she was still here! :D I was looking her over once again...it's amazing what you don't see when it's love at first sight! She's got some dings...her decals are worn...and I think she may have had a bobbin carriage transplant at some time in her life (it's pretty shiny) but she's home with me where she belongs! I'm pretty sure that she was meant to live with me. I fell in love with Hannah when I first saw her in the antique store in Prineville when Peggy and I went last October! I even called William and asked him then if I could bring her home. He stated that we had more than one bill to take care of, but he wouldn't yell at me if I did bring her home. I decided against it, but I was unhappy to leave her there. He was right...bills first. Then yesterday, he wanted to go to the antique store....just out of the blue. No real reason....just a "let's go". We called Peggy, and the three of us were off and running. I was SURE that Hannah was going to be gone, but no...there she was, almost with a glow around her...I gingerly reached out a foot and pushed the treadle. She worked! Before I knew it, she was out in the car and waiting to go home. We had to stop at the quilt shop there first tho...where I showed her to the owner. I got told that I was lucky she didn't know Hannah was there, or I wouldn't be taking her home with me!

I think I'm actually more excited to have her than the first woman who pushed her treadle and made a seam with her!
