We sell wide backing at the quilt shop where I work. If you would tell me what color you want I would be happy to see if we have it and can mail it to you. PM me if you are interested.

Christianlanequilters.com will also send you samples of their fatbacks. On the computer it is hard to get an accurate sense of the color. When I got their samples I was amazed at the difference from my monitor.

I love using wide backs because I don't have to piece! ;-)
i've used keepsakes on a couple different quilts....love it....

also, for some of the charity quilts, i have purchased used sheets frm goodwill or thrift stores...especially the flannels...just double check for thin spots by holding them up to a light.

Go to Fabricland.ca. Follow instructions to get to B.C. Lots of stores in B.C. They carry wide width cotton for backing.

Although I personally love to piece my backing from either scraps from the top or from fabrics in my stash, I can buy backing fabrics at the local Mennonite stores for $4.50/yd if she has ones she's wanting to clear out or about $6 regularly.

I had to have a dinner for 24 (don't ask) and bought three chunks of JoAnn's 108 backing on sale to make the tablecloths for three tables. Worked great and washed just as well. Maybe I'll put them on homey quilts someday but they do make great tablecloths!

If you are anywhere near an Amish settlement check there. Their fabric stores are usually filled to the brim with wide backings, beautiful handies (for hanky quilts), straw needles for applique, etc. I know the two stores about an hour from me do anyway. You can also use king size sheets if you can't find the color you're looking for in the fabric stores.

That is a really good idea. Especially as I am able to get the wide backs at a good price, they would be reasonable tablecloths.
