We lost the fabric dept. last year. Anybody use their precut packs?

Has anyone knowingly used similar fabrics from different sources side by side and done a "Consumer Reports" testing on them?

I keep hearing about the three different grades of the same print - and yes, I have seen the same print on different fabrics - but I have never seen, for example, three different grades of the SAME print of a VIP fabric. I have seen different weights of VIP fabric, but not of the SAME print/design.

Just wondering if anyone has been able to actually acquire (or at least seen, in person) "all three" grades at the same time.

I've been somewhat limiting my spending for the past few years, so - my information may be quite out of date.

I like a lot of the WM fabrics. I have done several quilt of the month quilts and had many complements on them. I too really check their fabric choices before I buy. Sometimes I substitute another fabric.

I can't say I've actually compared side by side but, I did order a Beatles panel from an online site along with several coordinating prints. The prints were great but the panel was skewed. I saw the same panel in Walmart (quite unexpectedly) and it was printed just as poorly.
If I had seen it first at WM I would have assumed it was a second.

True, WM does NOT have the selection of a nice LQS, but I have gotten some GREAT fabrics there.
I like some of their fabrics

I was happy with most of the fabric I bought at Walmart. Unfortunately none of the stores around here sell it now. I miss it.

When I first started quilting - I used the least expensive material WM had. I have to admit with a little more experience came me being a little more chosey (sp). But - the quilt of the month fabric is very nice. I am there multipule times a week and I do get fabric from there. But only the kind that "feels" right and I can't see through. :)

In the past, I found very nice fabric at WM. My finds are becoming few and far between. That's doesn't stop me from strolling through their fabric dept., just in case.
