hahahhaah, you guys are so funny. I love my house to be clean, I can't fuction otherwise. Now Hubby takes care of it and the laundry and is happy to do it. He does window too lol. I do the inside. We do certain things together like twice a year. Dust tops of cabinets and move stove and frig.

I cook enough food for three days or more, the fresh stuff only takes 10 minutes.

When I was doing all of it, I some every day and then each room got a once deep clean every year and that meant the closets. Everything came out was sorted and stuff got rid of and it always felt good to do that...it's near that time now...it seems that I like to do that around the winter time. I still do the closets as I am the one who desides what goes and what stays lol.

I buy a big bottle of Awesome cleaner at the dollar store. I dilute it according to directions and put it in spray bottles. One in the kitchen, one in each bathroom. I also have a small bottle of window cleaner in each place. No running back and forth and it's easy to spray and wipe surfaces every day. I keep a cloth with each bottle in the bathrooms.
At my house keeping surfaces cleared of junk is a big problem. My DH thinks every surface needs to be filled with his stuff. I use small baskets for some things, like pocket change and pens.
I generally vacuum and do the other floors once a week. My house always looks lived in, but I try to keep it within reason and generally clean.
Since my DH retired, I have had to relax my standards or pull my hair out. The bald look is great on him, not for me!! :lol:

My DBF (fiance) is terrible about picking up after himself so i just leave his stuff laying where he left it. When he realizes I am not going to pick up the 3 pairs of socks off the living room floor he politely throws them in front of the washing machine. haha. no joke. mind you there is a basket sitting 2 feet away from the washer at all times. ugh. more tips please kep them coming.
~ When cleaning the bathroom don't forget to wipe down the back of the door or around the top of the shower.
~Spray windex on your sink and fixtures and wipe with a soft cloth makes everything look cleaner and shiney - i always get the "wow, it really looks clean in here" comment when I do.

Easiest way to clean your bath tub. Buy the cheapest oven cleaner you can (Dollar Store) and spray the tub. Let sit for 5 to 10 minutes and all the scum and gunge comes off. If it's really dirty may have to repeat.

This will NOT harm your tub no matter what it's made of. I've been doing this for years and swear by it. I also do my bathroom sinks too......That is when I clean....

My DH is retired and I still work full time so he does all the cleaning and laundry. Cept he doesn't clean like I do, the real deep down stuff! Guess I'm one of the lucky ones! Just saw the post on oven cleaner. I was once told to use toilet bowl cleaner and I did. DO NOT! It ate away the finish on my ceramic tub. Person that told me this had a fiberglass one. I did use oven cleaner to take a painted on name off my goldwing motorcycle a few years back. It worked and didn't harm the fiberglass or finish. So it sounds good!

I found something great recently, but am not sure that you have these in the States.

A pack of ECloths. The microfibre one used dry is fantastic for dusting. Damp it will clean anything and not need any product to help. The thin one then polishes and dries the area you have swiped with the damp one.

Windows and mirrors, sinks, showers, baths, basins and kitchens come up gleaming. It cuts my housework in half.

At the time I thought they were really expensive. But in three weeks I have saved more than they cost by not buying all those products that offer us hope that they will work! and don't.

If anyone wants to know more about them, I will post a link.

Here here!! on using Awesome. Lives up to it's name, that's for sure. Eight years ago, when I moved into my house, there were black hand prints on the long fiberglass back of my shower/tub enclosure. I tried everything to get them off, no luck. Even bleach and steam didn't touch it. Finally figured it must be black mildew coming thru from the other side. Gross!!

I haven't had the $$ to replace it so lived with it. Double gross. On a chance, I sprayed some Awesome on it. Went away to clean something else, came back 5 minutes later, and VOILA! the handprints were gone. Couldn't believe it!!!

A while back I was doing a lot of quilting and not much cleaning. It got so bad, I couldn't stand it anymore, but still wanted to be quilting. So I decided to do one room a day. I started first thing in the morning, decluttering, dusting and vacuuming. Didn't take that long, then I had the rest of the day to sew.

My housework and cleaning tip: Marry a great guy who loves to clean, cook, and do laundry! Actually for the first 27 years I did all the cooking, cleaning, laundry and raising the kids while he worked at an office. Once the kids moved out, I worked away from home in an office and he worked from our home... so he began doing the cleaning and cooking and the next thing I knew... when I was actually at home there was no housework needing my attention.... so I could sew and read and do fun things. Believe me, I've been smiling non-stop for the last 20 years!
