I can and have, but not anymore. My DH doesn't like the feel of them. I did a nice job on them too!!

Back in the day when I did darn socks I used a light bulb in the toe or heel just like my grandma taught me. Anyone else do that?

Yes, I still use a light bulb--lost the darning egg in a house fire--was taught with a light bulb when I was ten.....and I have a ball of darning yarn that is about 50 years old--still good--it was a big one!

I really find it strangely comforting and relaxing to do.

    Anyone else darn?
My hubby expects me to darn his socks. I WILL NOT. He's got razor blade toenails------I'd have to darn every pair, every week. Every one has holes by the big toe.
Some one needs the Chrsitmas gift a of a pedacure. LOL

Never have, wouldn't even know how, but my DH would be so impressed if I did. He always likes to tease me about darning his socks. In reality, it sounds like he wouldn't like it from what some of you have said. He is very picky about how his socks feel on his feet. Maybe I should try it once, just to call his bluff:)

NO, I don't darn socks probably because I hardly ever wear them even in the winter. At my age I don't spend too much time outdoors when it is very cold, just wear my boots for everyday shopping, etc. May in Jersey

I do. I use my mom's darning egg. I don't mind doing it.
