One trick that might help you evaluate -- turn your photos into grayscale (black and white) and you will be better able to tell if you have enough contrast happening.

The gray scale thing really works. Take a shot and then you'll be able to see right away what will and will not stand out. Any two that show up the same gray, delete one then photograph them again. Keep adding/subtracting until what shows up on the photo and what shows up on your table is appealing.
Then enjoy the process.

I like the 2nd arrangement better. Yes, I agree with others, include the white. Look forward to seeing your finished project.

I like the one with white in it, but think you need some really darks in there.

I think if you have just the one white it will really stand out in the colors you've chosen and that's all your eye will focus on. I agree with the person who said add some more darks and more lights---very light blues into the whites. Let us know what you decide.

Thanks for any help.
I am in the middle of making my first bargello but I have watched many many tutorials and read through over a dozen instructions for different patterns. Definitely put some darker blues in there and add some white..you will be so happy that you did! Blessings and Happy New Year!

I would use the second group. There is more of a variation in the colors and they look warmer together.
