It is beautiful and displays your love of fabric, color, and angles - - EVERYTHING that makes quilting such a joy! <wave>

I am asking because due to the small size of the avatar pics it is sometimes difficult to pick out all the detail and identify the pattern. Thanks in advance for participating - can't wait to see your pics!!
I know this is going to be a silly question, but what is an avatar?

An 'Avatar' is the photo you use to identify yourself; for example, my avatar is my First Year's Quilt Diary photo. Lots of folks use their cats or dogs as avatars. Some use quilts. You can add it in your "My profile" page.

Thank you, that makes sense now.

I've changed my avatar a few times, but usually have one of my quilts as mine. Here are a couple I've used.

    A silk quilt.

My Avatar is the quilt I made for my son's wedding. It's a wonky log cabin block using batik scraps. No pattern, just started making odd blocks. I set the blocks on point and did not put in corner setting triangles so the quilt has the cut off corners. My son's wife is very artsy and I wanted something very original for them. It's a lap size because I ran out of time to finish it before the wedding! But that's perfect for them to toss around their Florida condo.

Jillaine: If you have never made a wedge quilt or, similarly, a tree skirt, then you need to know that it seems that the wedges will never get completed. If I had made a small dresden plate, I would have known what to expect. Sewing single pieces of fabric into a wedge circle is not bad at all. But these were 18" long and very narrow.

What I did (as you can see in my quilt), is flip and sew small pieces of fabric into one single wedge. It was taking so long that I succombed to just using single pieces of fabric in some of the wedges. In retrospect, I could have done the same each year I've been quilting, but I've just made so many quilts that photograph portfolios and a Power Point presentation will suffice.

I may do another, but only using single fabric strips. It is a very striking wall hanging.
