Those surrounding blocks are what I really like. I don't recall ever seeing that particular block but it would be easy to replicate.

Opps - I see that you added a comment as I was writing mine. Are the 4 blocks courthouse steps (log cabin) blocks??? Similar maybe with a little modification???
They are..it's the one called "Corner Stones" a "Court House Steps" with a small sq. on the end. Isn't it neat..I want to do it !!

Loved seeing this one. Thanks for the hint to search out more ideas from other countries. I have always been in awe of you Aussy quilters! And Melody, since you are from the southwestern states of USA, you could do one with beautiful cactus flowers. The black would pop those yellows and orange blooms something magnificant.
