I feel so blessed. My hubby is always telling me he hopes the quilts I make are for us. He knows that someday the kids and grandkids will have them, but until then, he wants to keep them! I make quilts because I like the fabric or the pattern. Sometimes they tell me they want to go live with someone else, but most of the time they like where they are living.

Do you display your quilts? I have table toppers, lap quilts, wall hangings, runners, and bed quilts. I change them every so often as many of them are seasonal.

That was what I was going to say- they are artwork and they add color and warmth to my home.

I haven't made a "just because" quilt yet. But there's nothing wrong with making something just because you like the pattern and hadn't had anyone in mind when you saw it.

I see nothing wrong to make a quilt just cause you like a pattern.

It's not just my DH that asks....everytime someone sees me sewing on a block, they'll ask who it's for. Just tell him you haven't decided yet.

As a matter of fact, most of my quilts are "just because" quilts...just because I wanted to try the technique or pattern, just because I wanted to use a certain fabric, or even just because I felt moved. I seldom plan the size...when I get tired of the technique or fabric I call it a wrap, even though it may only be a table runner. And if I make a quilt for someone I never, ever, ask them to pick out the fabrics or pattern. I may or may not ask for their general color preference. The good news is, even with my somewhat casual approach, I have never had someone
turn down one of my quilts. Luck is a good thing.

My MiL used to wrap hers up in cotton and put them in the closet. She would say I'm going to will it. She didn't have much of this worlds good but her quilts. She did give some.

I just love to make them. I am sure all the quilts will find a home when the Good Lord calls me home. For now it is my theraphy.
